Hand-knotted with 100% wool fibers, this authentic vintage Oushak rug is a high-quality piece that's an actual investment for your home. And because it's truly one-of-a-kind, you won't find another anywhere else.
One hundred and fifty miles east of Izmir, Uşak (Oushak) has had a thriving carpet industry for hundreds of years. Consistently producing rather large sizes, Oushaks were among the few room-size Orientals available in any quantity in the nineteenth century.
Oushaks, as a rule, are woven with heavy yarn, giving the rug a loose texture. The fields are generally of the typical Oushak red, with warp threads of the same dye, but they may use natural tans, dark blue, and yellows for the background coloring. They use very little detail in the field, which gives the rugs their bold, dramatic look. Oushak rugs are heavier in texture than most Turkish rugs. The wool takes on an unusual luster with use.
The majority of our rugs were handmade over 60 years before they found their way to us, and we are honored to assist you in choosing the one that will transform your home today and for years to come.
